Spotlight

Jodie Foster

If I fail, at least I will have failed my way

Remarkable:

John Hinckley watched Taxi driver over fifteen times. He began stalking Foster to save her. In 1981 he tried to murder Ronald Reagan to show his love for her.

Born:

November 19, 1962

Born as:

Alicia Christian Foster

Performing professionally from age three, Jodie appeared in many Disney TV productions. In 1976, Foster made the film that changed her life, Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese. Her portrayal made Foster the object of obsessive fixation for John Hinckley, who attempted to assassinate President Reagan on her behalf. She continued performing in films while earning her degree in literature at Yale university. In 1988 Foster finally gained respect as an adult actress for her portrayal of the victim of a brutal gang rape in The accused. But she became a big star with her role of federal agent Clarice Starling in the megahit thriller The silence of the lambs. Her directorial debut came in 1991 with Little man Tate. Jodie carefully selects films like Contact (1997), Anna and the king (1999) and Panic room (2002) but turned down the opportunity to reteam with Hopkins in Hannibal.
