Three Days of the Condor
I don't think you'll live much longer
Joe Turner, codenamed Condor, (Robert Redford) is a CIA analyst of no particular significance. Turner isn't a field agent; he just reads books from around the world looking for patterns and hidden messages. In his absence a group of armed men gains entrance to the office and kills everyone there. He calls CIA headquarters but the first time the company make contact, one of their number tries to kill him.
Turner quickly goes into hiding and forces a total stranger, Kathy Hale (Faye Dunaway), to let him stay at her apartment. Slowly he becomes the hunter, and with the help of Kathy, he figures out how to use his skills and knowledge against a shadowy coalition of government and assassins, and tries to discover why they want him dead.
