A war hero named Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman), wounded from Afghanistan, meets a mysterious, charismatic detective who looks for a flatmate. At the same time, the London police are helpless in their investigations of a recent number of presumed suicides.

When an unidentified woman, dressed all in pink, turns up dead in an abandoned building, inspector Lastrade (Rupert Graves) asks Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help. Sherlock invites his new friend Watson and together they discover various clues pointing to a serial killer.
