The Return of the King

We have time. Every day Frodo moves closer to Mordor.

Elijah WoodThe Return of the King starts where The Two Towers ended. Frodo (Elijah Wood) is the increasingly haunted and demanding ring bearer who attempts to make his way to Mount Doom. The future king Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), the dwarf Ghimli (John-Rhys Davies) and the elf Legolas (Orlando Bloom) have reunited with their friends the Hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd). This doesn't last long however. Pippin's is a fool of a Took, and by his fault, the sinister Sauron knows about their whereabouts. He must flee.

The eye of SauronPippin and Gandalf ride for Minas Tirith, where Denethor (John Noble), the steward of the city who reigns over Gondor until the return of the king, is facing a massive Orc-invasion. Denethor has gone mad because of the death of his son and will not ask for any help. But secretly Pippin sets fire to a beacon as a warning to Aragorn and Theodin (Bernard Hill) of Rohan that will unite the allies.

Viggo MortensenThe Orc army attacks and Gandalf must hold the city until the allies under the command of Aragorn can try to break the siege. Meanwhile, the elf Arwen (Liv Tyler) sees her human future and goes towards a life of mortality. She begs her father, king Elrond (Hugo Weaving) to help her, so he reforges the Sword of Kings for her beloved Aragorn. After the battle for Minas Tirith, Gandalf and the now unbeatable Aragorn know that they must keep distracting Sauron long enough for Frodo to destroy the Ring. But the closer Frodo gets, the more Gollum tries to take it over.
